About Us

Ian and Joanne Caudwell established the forge at Billinghay in 1988 working from a newly converted farm building which has since been extended, adjacent to the former vicarage dating from the 16th century.  Ian served a three year apprenticeship as a wrought iron smith with the Council for Small Industries in Rural Areas as well as further training in welding, fabrication, design and draughting.  Working with us we have qualified craftsmen as well as a network of suppliers and subcontractors.

Our workshop is equipped with traditional forging tools and equipment alongside this we have the most up to date fabrication and welding equipment and we are able to work in the full range of ferrous and non ferrous materials. With our ability to combine the contemporary and traditional skills and processes we make full use of Computer Aided Draughting with for instance laser cutting.

Our portfolio of clients includes: -

  • Lincoln City Council
  • North Kesteven District Council
  • Alford Civic Trust
  • Boston Fydel House
  • Boston Guildhall
  • St Swithins Church Lincoln

As our work is of a bespoke nature we do not produce a brochure as we prefer to treat each commission individually.  We can provide advice, drawings and pictures to enable you to choose wrought ironwork that is appropriate to you.  Please feel free to view our gallery page.
